I purchased starcraft 2 when it first came out, and with it going free to play blizzard gave me the first expansion for free.

There's no way this could be a direct reference to EA. It takes weeks to produce, write, film and edit a clip like this. This is just a happy and incredibly well-timed coincidence. The jabs from the Starcraft twitter, on the other hand..

As much as I love the circlejerk of hating EA, lets all remember this was created and (probably) finished months ago. Its nothing to do directly with EA, they just fucked up at a brilliant time for Blizzard.

Wait, Starcraft II is free to play with no pay-to-win? Shit, why the hell not

Blizzard-Activision makes CoD with tons of micro transactions. In fact Activision literally has patents on how to get end users to purchase more micro transactions.

Wow, the timing of this ad is on point.
15 Nov 2017 09:25 - +136
That was actually a really good ad.

ITT people who never played a CCG other than Hearthstone.

I recently got an email from them inviting me to play the wings of liberty/heart of the swarm DLC for free. I actually went back and reread the email multiple times to make sure. What? Free DLC? Madness Blizzard! Madness!
15 Nov 2017 09:02 - +51
Wait, SC2 is free to play now?
15 Nov 2017 10:19 - +45
So how much do I have to spend to get all the Hearthstone cards?
15 Nov 2017 10:33 - +38
Nice PR move, Blizzard, ... but I still remember the Diablo 3 Auction House.
15 Nov 2017 11:24 - +18
Prolly get downvoted but I love to play devils advocate. Ive been playing Hearthstone off an on pretty casually for like 3 years and haven't spent a single dime. I'm not a master or anything but have several good decks and legendaries from playing the arena. Also. I've been playing heroes of the storm for 5 years and HAVE spent money but maybe 30$ total. (Sylvanas, and Leoric) and have everything else via rewards. I love Blizzard and don't buy into the hearthstone is pay to win. It's pay to win a lot but bullshit saying it's pay to win period. So I've enjoyed hours of free entertainment with no console, or controllers or any of that bullshit. Hours and lots of fun for free. So it's hard for me to hear people complaining but I guess perspective changes everything. I'm guessing regret drives a lot of the hate on this post. I don't really regret not spending any money for hours of fun and entertainment in a few of the most enjoyable game universes that exist. Also.. they are making Starcraft 2 free to play in the near future... soooooo nope not really buying all of this blizz hate

It's a great time to be alive nowadays where it's common that parents and their children both share a love of video games.

I honestly thought this was about Dairy Queen blizzards and didn't understand the commercial until the very end. Haha

Black Division can't really talk. If it's not soft gambling in the form of loot crates its.... soft gambling in the form of loot crates.
15 Nov 2017 09:26 - +7
That's not just a jab at EA. That's a jab at all the games where you can "pay to win". It's just REALLY good timing.

"Dad, I'm getting wrecked"

I love how everyone is calling out blizz for starting it with overwatch. TF2 did this in 2010 long before overwatch. Maplestory the mmo also had paid loot.
