I know I'd look like a total dork with Heelys. I still want to rock 'em anyway.

I hate shopping for my kids birthdays. *I* want that badass, battery powered Nerf assault weapon, my dumbass daughters like princesses and video games, they don’t deserve such glory.

One of the reasons I really enjoyed Christmas when my son's were little - fuck ya, a one year old will love a Big Wheel with a Spin Out brake, what'ya mean I'm too big to ride it?
15 Nov 2017 10:14 - +422
Yeah man. I do this with kids who have cell phones, too. They have these nice ass phones and I'm like, fuck y'all I couldn't text anyone because it was $0.25 a text and the phone was an old used Nokia that was only for emergencies. Even though I have a nice phone now too, it rankles me.

At 31, I'm still bitter I never got an easybake oven..
15 Nov 2017 13:32 - +201
When I was a kid I saved my money from doing chores/ selling lemonade, and birthday cards for like two years so I could buy a power wheel. When the big day came, I pulled out the power wheel at toys-r-us to inspect my new purchase. I was now too big for it. My dreams were crushed and I had to just give up right then and there knowing my time had passed. Never forget

I saw a dragonzord the other day and nearly jumped on it. Then I realized I'm a grown adult with responsibilities and bills :(
15 Nov 2017 11:42 - +115
I can’t watch stranger things with my dad cause hell see them have the little radio things and he would be like “dang !!! I always wanted one 😡” and would go to a spiral and talk about how he couldn’t have nice things cause his mom died when he was young and how abusive his aunt was

I like people who have clever names on Twitter.

This post just made me realize I can buy my own Lite Brite.
15 Nov 2017 12:38 - +60
I swear, one of these days Im gonna drop 500 bucks on a [high end pogo stick](, that Ive been wanting since I was in school. May look dumb, but legit 9-10ft air sounds dope, and I kinda want to try flipping one too.
15 Nov 2017 11:13 - +49
This is too real. I asked for a power wheel EVERY year for christmas. Still not sure what I did to piss my parents off bad enough to snuff me every single year of my childhood. #wasitcauseidrankallthemilk? #firstworldproblems
15 Nov 2017 13:22 - +49
I always wanted a full size American Girl Doll, now I can’t even look at that store out of bitterness.
15 Nov 2017 13:44 - +41
I still want a Barbie, damnit (am a male). Salty, why yes I am. Hmm, maybe I grew up to be gay JUST to spite them for insisting that having a Barbie would make me that way lol lol lol
15 Nov 2017 13:59 - +35
I'm still too broke to buy a Lego millennium falcon and I'm 26. Shits expensive af
15 Nov 2017 10:40 - +33
I feel the same way with the really expensive shit but at the same time I also remember how the stupidest toys seemed so fucking cool to me as a kid. And then if my parents finally could afford something they would turn out to be the lamest things. Like I still feel guilt about the fake cellphone toy.... I cried for one for like a month and my mom finally gave in. Played with it for a day and then was bored.
15 Nov 2017 10:48 - +25
Water parks and amusement parks
15 Nov 2017 12:04 - +24
For me it was video games. We could afford them, my family just thought it would rot my brain. 😭
15 Nov 2017 14:12 - +23
I wanted an American Girl doll so bad and had friends who had multiple dolls. I was so excited to buy my own daughters the dolls and they could have cared less about them.

two words: moon boots

Damn this will be buried but holy shit does this hit home. I've always mentioned power wheels to my wife whenever we are at the store and see them. Never had one, but always wanted one. We had our first kid a year ago and he loves cars/trucks and pretending to steer in his wagon we pull him in. A group of kids down the street have like a power wheels gang. No joke, like 9 kids with 6 cars. Not the cheap power wheels of the 90's have you. We are talking like Hummer, Lexus, and shit that looks nicer than my car. Well I couldn't wait to get my son one and was thinking next bday or next Christmas. Then I noticed the prices. Holy hell. $500 or more for some of these?! Now I don't blame my parents for not getting me one. I'll wait till one of the neighbor families put a broken down one on the curb and fix it up.
15 Nov 2017 13:08 - +12
Yes! Just bought my (way too young to even pretend to drive) god daughter a pink Barbie Jeep Powerwheel. Never had one as a kid, and watching those commercials, I thought I could have driven anywhere.
15 Nov 2017 12:02 - +12
Yesss!! I never had an easy bake oven as a kid and hell I’d get one now just to make a cookie with a light bulb.
15 Nov 2017 13:17 - +12
I feel this way when I see kids with light up shoes. I want to trip them.
15 Nov 2017 11:58 - +12
I cried for days about the Bigfoot power wheels. Few things in life have I ever wanted as bad as I wanted it.
15 Nov 2017 14:17 - +10
Cool thing about being a grown up is that you have grown up money and your parents can't tell you no. Well maybe they still will, but my mom can't enforce her rule against trampolines if I don't live under her roof anymore. No lie, I'm 28 and my trampoline jealousy is nearing it's end as I'm researching the best trampoline I can afford. You bet I'm getting one with a built in basketball hoop.
15 Nov 2017 13:41 - +9
Power Wheels man. I don't think there's a more iconic thing every kid wished they had growing up in the 80's/90's. I don't even know anyone who had one. It's like some mythical toy you only saw on TV or in the mall.
15 Nov 2017 13:36 - +8
I bought myself a nanopuppy because of this shit. It’s been in a drawer ever since.
15 Nov 2017 11:55 - +7
For years my dad let me think he was buying toys for me ... they were pretty much all his.
15 Nov 2017 13:40 - +7
power wheels were out of the question so you had to risk your ankles with [these](
15 Nov 2017 14:42 - +7
Legit first pay check from my first job I went out and bought two pairs of doc martins and all the Wet N Wild make up I always wanted to try. Even bought a starter jacket. I was so damn proud of that thing I didn't even watch basketball at the time.
15 Nov 2017 14:40 - +6
random r/all user.. i wanted a castle greyskull when i was a kid.. years and years later when i was like 26 i seen one in a dumpster in an alley i happen to be riding my bike down.. i dumpster dove that fucker and rode it home
15 Nov 2017 13:06 - +6
For me it will always be the Ghostbusters ghost-catchy thingy that opened up. Never had one. Always wanted one. I think I'm gonna buy one. I'm a 31 yo expecting father, but I'm gonna buy me that fucking Ghostbusters catchy thingy.
15 Nov 2017 14:26 - +6
My mother still gets a little sad when she’s reminded that she never got that cowgirl outfit in childhood (her mother wanted her to be more feminine). She’s 70. She doesn’t complain about much, so the fact she’s mentioned it *at all* indicates it must be a huge thing for her.
15 Nov 2017 14:10 - +5
I still to this say get uncomfortable and kinda sad when I play board or card games because my parents never played anything with me and I didn't really have friends as a kid lol
15 Nov 2017 13:07 - +5
I begged for a Mr Frosty every year. Never got one!
15 Nov 2017 13:07 - +5
This is the reason my 2yo son has a atv
15 Nov 2017 14:06 - +5
Yes and this is why as an adult I have our spare bedroom decorated as my ultimate girls room. I didn’t have shit growing up but I can have it now.
15 Nov 2017 13:56 - +5
Omg I still feel pangs when I see kids with those 3-wheel scooters with the long upright handle bar. I wanted one so bad. Note that I had a real two-wheeler in college and a car now.
15 Nov 2017 13:43 - +4
Super Soakers for me, never had one :(
15 Nov 2017 13:42 - +4
Some type of way... Smdh
15 Nov 2017 14:29 - +4
I grew up with my mom poor af so I feel this on a spiritual level
15 Nov 2017 14:02 - +4
I remember that one time I wanted a Strawberry Shortcake Toy House but instead got a My Scene Hudson doll... I'm totally over it now tho
15 Nov 2017 13:49 - +4
Always wanted those christmas-calenders with LEGO inside.. Im 23 now and thinking about buying one
15 Nov 2017 14:41 - +4
Power Wheels were the prime culprit. The kid that owned a Power Wheels was always a spoiled dickbag. Now my 3 year old has a Power Wheels and I'm like, is he going to be a spoiled dickbag now? Am I ruining him?
15 Nov 2017 14:40 - +4
I’m still salty that I never got a Barbie Cadillac Escalade. Also a hot pink Motorola Razr
15 Nov 2017 14:46 - +4
Lol for me it was those yellow and red plastic cars you could sit in and drive like Fred Flinstone. I never got one and I still to this day am salty when I see one. I’m 30.
15 Nov 2017 12:19 - +4
A 94 buick is not a legit car
15 Nov 2017 13:59 - +3
I will never forget bargaining with my parents for a power wheels. I offered no presents for 2 Christmases and one birthday to no avail. I had smart parents. Those things were like 500 bucks! I still want one though...
15 Nov 2017 14:32 - +3
Went to Target today and the toys are definitely out! It's crazy how much the barbie houses or race tracks for cars are- but all of the electronics that kids have get me. They're so cool! I saw like, 5 different sets of "interactive" games or electronic apps that help teach kids how to code, create electrical circuits or build drones. It's stuff that I never thought kids would have acess too at such a young age :) I'm hoping to get my little sister some. I couldn't learn about it at her age, but am trying to learn the basics now, but the bigger head start I can give her the better!
15 Nov 2017 13:53 - +3
even saltier when i realize how much my dad made back then
15 Nov 2017 12:55 - +3
I had plenty of bikes, but have seen the rides they have now. My god they are sooo cool
