And yet somehow manages to do all of this with bare feet

This title is so awesome, I had no idea if it was gonna be a fail or a win. Good job OP. Also this one has a great precise moment when the dad reflex kicks in when you see him spin on his heels and take action.

Who let's their kid learn to ride a bike without a helmet?
15 Nov 2017 10:28 - +115
To the front page!
15 Nov 2017 10:35 - +73
Target fixation is real
15 Nov 2017 11:08 - +40
WHY IS HE NOT WEARING A HELMET???
15 Nov 2017 11:31 - +39
Little Guy really should be wearing a helmet.
15 Nov 2017 10:50 - +32
Spent the whole gif pulling my phone closer to my face to see if it was a “win” or a “fail.”
15 Nov 2017 11:36 - +19
That’s some trust in your neighborhood street cleanliness to run barefoot down the street
15 Nov 2017 11:17 - +17
Can't stop giggling at his "OH SHIT" sharp turn.
15 Nov 2017 11:34 - +14
But for real... this is super impressive. I think I might have had to just tackle my kid - making it infinitely worse.
15 Nov 2017 13:58 - +10
Where is the kid’s helmet?
15 Nov 2017 13:46 - +9
Helmet
15 Nov 2017 12:33 - +8
I can't tell how he grabbed him, it looks like his hand went around the kid's neck.
15 Nov 2017 12:23 - +8
I'll bet he was more worried about the insurance cost than the "son being a dumbass" cost.
15 Nov 2017 13:44 - +6
Looks like southeast Oklahoma City. That style of mid 90's built home with bradford pears and trees kept short by high winds in a flat landscape is indicative of an Oklahoma City suburb.
15 Nov 2017 15:22 - +6
Why isn’t the kid wearing a helmet? Dad responsibilities not so hot
15 Nov 2017 11:16 - +6
20 points for Gryffindor!
15 Nov 2017 16:27 - +6
Where is that kids helmet? Smarten up.
15 Nov 2017 11:30 - +4
That was a 4* dad reflex!
15 Nov 2017 15:49 - +3
Hold my training wheels. *I've got a car to smash in*.
15 Nov 2017 20:34 - +3
Dads are heroes!
15 Nov 2017 17:17 - +3
Why is he not wearing a helmet?
15 Nov 2017 18:59 - +3
I showed this subreddit to my husband the other day, and he was like So? Christ, thats how you spend the first five years of a kid's life. You imagine what can happen, and nothing they do catches you off guard. Our youngest is seven now, and even he tells me about stupid shit he did "way back when he was five, or maybe four." Must be a dad instinct starts developing when they're seven.
15 Nov 2017 16:15 - +2
I’ve always though of my kid (now only 3) as a little being who’s dedicated to trying to kill itself. It’s like being a super hero, having to save these little suicide machines all the time.
15 Nov 2017 18:06 - +2
4 Stars? More like 3 Stars. I'd be pissed (although forgiving) if a kid ran his bike into my car. Dad reflexes also seemed to kick in a little late, although still successfully executed. Perfect 3/5.
15 Nov 2017 14:29 - +2
I think its universal that dads dont wear shoes
15 Nov 2017 17:22 - +2
WHAT A GRAB!
15 Nov 2017 14:36 - +2
People always forget to teach their kids how to use the brakes and how to fall.
15 Nov 2017 14:04 - +2
Ah yes did the same thing as a kid but instead my dad let me hit the car and now I have a scar on my eyebrow from the license plate
15 Nov 2017 14:52 - +2
Look daddy, look daddy, how am I doing?
15 Nov 2017 16:42 - +2
Dad of the year !
15 Nov 2017 14:25 - +2
Goddamn. Kids are stupid.
15 Nov 2017 17:44 - +2
Not on my new truck you little rascal
15 Nov 2017 15:43 - +2
What kind of tree is that next to the truck? Exactly what I'm looking for
15 Nov 2017 18:27 - +2
This kid has learned a valuable life lesson: If you ride your bicycle without looking where you go, and suddenly there's a huge truck in front of you, nothing will happen, so no need to pay attention.
15 Nov 2017 15:01 - +2
He made the skill play but absolutely 0 game sense.
15 Nov 2017 16:40 - +1
Not sure if he saved the kid or the Chevy
15 Nov 2017 15:50 - +1
He should have taught his kid to stop when he yells the safe word, in this case probably "brakes!". Really, that's the only thing here. The first thing you teach when you teach a kid to ride a bike is how to hit the brakes. This kid has no idea how to stop, which can be funny in some circumstances but hitting a car or vice versa isn't funny. I mean, I appreciate this sub, but if you just use your brain you can still do the dad job without needing to make a last-second save. He also should have predicted that the kid would hit the car, since it's the only thing the kid can hit. So he should have run on the other side of the bike, rather than herding the kid into the car. Lack of helmet is also a big deal, obviously.
15 Nov 2017 13:41 - +1
Your title makes it sound like you were disappointed that his dad reflexes were on point
15 Nov 2017 17:58 - +1
CLEAN save 👌🏼
15 Nov 2017 13:58 - +1
This looks like central MS?
15 Nov 2017 16:25 - +1
1* Dad reflexes since the kid isn't wearing a helmet.
15 Nov 2017 14:00 - +1
Why do kids on bikes feel the need to run into things?
15 Nov 2017 17:44 - +1
Aim for failure and you will succeed.
15 Nov 2017 14:45 - +1
Human reaction
15 Nov 2017 13:40 - +1
I don't understand why he was moving towards left as he was running. Shouldn't he stay close?
15 Nov 2017 14:49 - +1
What the heck, they're running on a giant footpath?? Do they usually have big footpaths in America?
15 Nov 2017 15:55 - +1
Dumb kid was going right for truck
15 Nov 2017 15:06 - +1
Okay somebody help me out, it looks like he already slowed down or even stopped before the dad picks him up?
15 Nov 2017 16:25 - +1
Thanks. I was impressed by the incredibly clean street. Live in SE Asia.
15 Nov 2017 15:12 - +1
You know that scratched his neighbor's bumper.
15 Nov 2017 17:19 - +1
I guess it wasn't too close but too far, from the camera.
15 Nov 2017 15:19 - +1
super dad, awaaaaaay
15 Nov 2017 17:46 - +1
Sorry to tell you bro, but you aren't the farther.
15 Nov 2017 15:48 - +1
Am I the only one here who thinks this road is insanely narrow? Each yard is twice the width of the road
