I can’t wait to see a video of someone trying to do this and then sending their phone off to be lost forever
12 Dec 2017 13:16 - +599
This is really cool! It doesn't compare to a drone but its also not a thousand dollar plus investment. All I'm wondering now is how do you find your phone once the string snaps.
12 Dec 2017 13:42 - +411
Yes, because I want to swing my $700 phone around on a string of questionable integrity.
12 Dec 2017 14:48 - +366
I would have the urge to absolutely launch my phone if I used this
12 Dec 2017 15:49 - +322
I can’t hold my phone in my hand without dropping it...turning it into a skipit isn’t going to fix that
12 Dec 2017 14:49 - +129
Ok for real though, wouldn't it be too blurry?
12 Dec 2017 16:07 - +41
Literally the third iPhone piece of content on my front page. Must be nearly Christmas or something ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
12 Dec 2017 15:23 - +36
I feel like phone cameras don’t film at a high enough frame rate for this. Happy to be wrong though.
12 Dec 2017 15:47 - +24
Poor man’s Matrix. I love this. Such an clever way to bring excellence to visuals. This guy deserves some recognition. Looking forward to more like this.
12 Dec 2017 16:17 - +19
I bet the string is not even compatible with other phones, fkn Apple.
12 Dec 2017 15:23 - +19
Hopefully it isn't accompanied by the "hard rock effect".
12 Dec 2017 17:30 - +18
Matt and Kim shot a whole music video that looked just like this. https://youtu.be/4KA1eXUKZJ4
12 Dec 2017 14:01 - +15
Are you trying to make me carsick?
12 Dec 2017 16:11 - +10
How many idiots are going to do this next week and be on /r/oops and /r/tifu
12 Dec 2017 15:57 - +7
Pretty cool, even if it is giving me serious vertigo. But still, I feel like the string would slip straight out my fingers (especially if I were wearing gloves) and I’d be out $800.
12 Dec 2017 16:41 - +7
Oh wow. Too bad I couldn't do this with my Android phone
12 Dec 2017 17:20 - +5
Video source? The gif is just not loading on my network today. Edit: Here ya go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqncOP7OzMg
12 Dec 2017 16:39 - +5
THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH HEADPHONES!
12 Dec 2017 16:00 - +4
To be fair, auto-exposure and auto-WB are absolutely on point
12 Dec 2017 17:33 - +4
Nice try iPhone, I’m still not converting.
12 Dec 2017 12:26 - +4
_This is a brilliant_ _way to marry old-school smarts_ _with new-school gadgets!_
12 Dec 2017 15:58 - +3
For me the iPhone effect would be a broken screen
12 Dec 2017 17:01 - +2
I would enjoy this so much more if it didn’t set off my motion sickness
12 Dec 2017 14:41 - +2
Reminds me vaguely of what vertigo feels like, eugh...
12 Dec 2017 16:42 - +2
Please let this go viral. The outcome will be great.
12 Dec 2017 17:30 - +2
INVEST IN THIS ALL OF YOUR MONEY FIDGET SPINNERS ARE IN THE GARBAGE BIN CHEAP KNOCKOFF PHONE BUNGIE CORD NEXT FAD
12 Dec 2017 16:24 - +2
It's all fun till it smacks you in the face
12 Dec 2017 15:31 - +2
How is it done?
12 Dec 2017 15:50 - +2
If I want to look this cool do I just need to spin my phone or do I need to do all the extreme winter sports also?
12 Dec 2017 17:43 - +2
TIFU by throwing my iPhone off a mountain trying to get a cool video
12 Dec 2017 17:37 - +2
So you cannot spin other phones on a string?
12 Dec 2017 14:49 - +2
Avalanche anxiety intensifies.
12 Dec 2017 19:16 - +1
The last good use for the headphone jack.
12 Dec 2017 17:09 - +1
Looks like you can 3D print your own phone holder to try this at home Instructions: http://open.centriphone.me/3d-printed
12 Dec 2017 17:47 - +1
I bet this is what that colorblind guy will do with the iPhone hidden in a box of colored pencils
12 Dec 2017 20:19 - +1
This is gorgeous
12 Dec 2017 20:40 - +1
Box includes: - twine - cardboard mount Helicopter not included.
12 Dec 2017 16:44 - +1
I was waiting for it to fling off the cliff.
12 Dec 2017 20:50 - +1
Coming soon to /r/instant_regret. But still a cool effect though.
12 Dec 2017 17:17 - +1
Is it OK if I use my action camera instead of my expensive microcomputerphone?
12 Dec 2017 21:23 - +1
Awesome trick
12 Dec 2017 19:10 - +1
What really amazes me is how this dude uses a cord to create an action scene that is more entertaining and thrilling than most of the cgi coming out of hollywood these days. It's just a whole lot more intense then some rendered cars flipping.
12 Dec 2017 22:17 - +1
This is the best way I've ever seen of accidently smoking your phone off a rock.
12 Dec 2017 18:08 - +1
„I see dead iPhones“
12 Dec 2017 16:42 - +1
So, it’s a selfie string? “Look at me” employing centrifugal force?
12 Dec 2017 18:02 - +1
For less than the price of an iPhone X you can do more with the new [GoPro Fusion](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BXLPHtViok). Still fuckin' expensive at $700 and in order to process the video file you'd need some fairly beefy PC. You can't post the video straight from the device also. But the possibilities are insane.
12 Dec 2017 17:09 - +1
[Wooh wooh wooh!](https://youtu.be/SQBLzotAn3M?t=40s)(nsfw)
12 Dec 2017 17:55 - +1
Technical question: Can this be done with any phone or do I have to buy the fragile expensive ones?
12 Dec 2017 17:17 - +1
Now we just gave Michael Bay a reason to get Snapchat/instagram.. thanks guy -_-
12 Dec 2017 18:03 - +1
I guess it was pretty tricky to make it not rotate around an axis parallel to the string. How did he managed that?
12 Dec 2017 17:43 - +1
This looks strangely Matrix-y.
12 Dec 2017 17:52 - +1
Nice try Apple icare
12 Dec 2017 17:48 - +1
Coming soon on r/tifu: TIFU by throwing my phone into a crowd starting a riot infront of an apple store
12 Dec 2017 17:54 - +1
At first I thought, “this is fuckin stupid”. And then for some reason, I now have the urge to start flinging my new phone around for that effect. Cool video.
12 Dec 2017 18:00 - +1
You mean "camera on a string swung around in circles" effect?
12 Dec 2017 18:02 - +1
Everyone's talking about how it would be blurry, I'm more concerned about how you can make sure the phone will always face the correct way
12 Dec 2017 18:02 - +1
I'd love to do this but when it's even a little chilly outside iPhones refuse to work :/
12 Dec 2017 18:56 - +1
I can't believe no one is mind blown by the fact he's skiing off piste while slinging a string around his head. So many things that could go terribly wrong.
