maybe they think you got a new carpet and they don't want to get mud on it?

Cover the entire room with the runners. Now they have no choice. You've got them this time!!

"Be careful to avoid this new stuff."

Up vote for assclowns

It’s probably because it’s an unusual texture. Give it time and they may get used to it. They could end up avoiding it forever though. I’d recommend trying a reward based system to train them to use it. Of course, if they’re going in and out quite a bit that may prove inefficient.

No saving carpet in a home with 2 dogs. Sorry.
14 Jan 2018 15:49 - +740
Plastic runners are lava.
14 Jan 2018 14:42 - +251
Might help if you put pointy side down

Get a $15 carpet runner from Costco. Also, wipe their paws off with a towel when you bring them inside. They get used to the routine pretty quick. There are also shammy mat things you could use instead, but they cost more and I've never used one so I don't know how effective they are. Source: own 2 dogs, live in Washington (rain).

2? I counted at least 48 and the video is still going.

I bought one of those blackhole litter mats for my cat so it would hopefully collect most of it. Extra big one at that. That punk cat decides, nope, let's just long jump over it spraying more litter everywhere

I've never understood Americans' insistence on wall-to-wall carpets. It just seems so dirty. Just thinking about how much filth can accumulate on a hardwood floor throughout the week, and knowing it just sinks into those carpets, gives me the shivers. And to clean it you literally need something called a carpet shampoo, and a special machine to *actually* get it clean. Nope. Nope. Nope. Not worth it. I'll stick to my fuzzy slippers, and my scandinavian hardwood flooring.

How to take care of carpeting. Step one: throw it in the trash
14 Jan 2018 18:22 - +21
They probably don't like how it feels, plus they probably get horrible traction on it.
14 Jan 2018 20:36 - +19
You didn't really put it on the racing line, they're just going wide to carry more speed.
14 Jan 2018 19:15 - +18
The runners look worse than a muddy carpet
14 Jan 2018 14:50 - +18
Not today hooman
14 Jan 2018 20:54 - +15
Dogs grip the floor with their nails. They won’t get traction on it so they avoid it.

LOL. Try putting towels on top of the plastic runners so their feeties are on something familiar.
14 Jan 2018 21:10 - +10
You can clean their paws at the door. Just like you normally take off your shoes. Can't expect them to do it for you 😐
14 Jan 2018 17:49 - +7
ur carpet is like nana's couch bro
14 Jan 2018 16:31 - +7
They don’t like the texture that’s why.
14 Jan 2018 21:12 - +6
My dog kept slipping on my wooden stairs, so I installed carpet pads that take up the middle 2/3 of the stair. She walks on the small exposed wood part and still slips.
14 Jan 2018 21:49 - +6
At this point why have carpet? Putting plastic floors on top of your floors...
14 Jan 2018 19:25 - +6
Looks like you’re the assclown for not knowing that dogs dislike running on hard slippy surfaces.
14 Jan 2018 17:16 - +5
You try walking on that barefoot, see how weird it feels
14 Jan 2018 20:46 - +5
Assclowns. I’m dying. 😆
14 Jan 2018 19:05 - +5
Because it is slippery
14 Jan 2018 23:42 - +4
Never understood covering your carpet with something ugly to "save it" from being ruined...
14 Jan 2018 15:11 - +4
What kind of dog is the second one? They look exactly like mine. I've been trying to figure this out for years (never sprung for DNA testing).
14 Jan 2018 19:08 - +4
Upvote for calling your 2 dogs assclowns. 😄
14 Jan 2018 18:34 - +4
Do you not wipe their feet? I can't imagine how nasty my house would be if I just let my dog walk inside with his muddy paws.
14 Jan 2018 14:50 - +4
you need more runners, just cut them to fit wall to wall. or put them streight..
14 Jan 2018 22:26 - +3
So how many dogs do you have? I have counted 32 till now
14 Jan 2018 21:08 - +3
It's slippery when their paws are wet, and claws don't make it any easier. Try a different material like an actual rug.
14 Jan 2018 22:40 - +3
I had to stop watching after the 20th dog. You need counseling.
14 Jan 2018 23:24 - +3
best use of the word assclown
14 Jan 2018 23:45 - +3
Even your dogs think thats tacky af
14 Jan 2018 20:34 - +3
Dogs have an innate ability to always choose the most efficient surface to walk and run on.
14 Jan 2018 23:53 - +3
Why do you say just 2? I’ve been watching this video for about 10 minutes and I have seen hundreds of dogs go by without using your mat.
14 Jan 2018 21:44 - +3
What's an assclown?
14 Jan 2018 21:26 - +3
You should make longer gif with the mat moved into the position of the dogs last line they walked, multiple times.
14 Jan 2018 18:55 - +3
What's the point of having a clean carpet if you're going to leave a disgusting plastic layer on it.
14 Jan 2018 21:29 - +3
I know that my dog (german shepherd) is terrified of linoleum the linoleum flooring in the mudroom of our house because it's so slippery and she can't run through it without falling over
14 Jan 2018 21:11 - +2
I had a dog when I was a kid that couldn't walk forwards on non-carpeted surfaces.
14 Jan 2018 20:44 - +2
Beautiful doggos ❤️
14 Jan 2018 18:40 - +2
THE PLASTIC IS LAVA DON'T TOUCH IT!
14 Jan 2018 15:32 - +2
Dogs can sense pitfall traps. You need more David Attenborough in your life friend and you'd know these things.
14 Jan 2018 19:37 - +2
Whats a plastic runners? The word doesnt make sense
14 Jan 2018 20:55 - +2
Time to it a wooden floor down that you can easily mop
14 Jan 2018 20:36 - +2
Sometimes i like to flip those and walk on it and see if i can make it to the other side, after i use legos
