That point where it stops being pills and becomes a painting

Man, everyone sure does love Ewan McGregor

5 bucks says someone still tries to steal the fake pills at some point.
14 Feb 2018 14:52 - +374
The great opioid christis.
14 Feb 2018 11:37 - +324
Wow, pretty powerful representation of the problems facing rural America.

So I have an autoimmune disease and I’ve been on a shit load of medications in my life and a lot of them were trial medications so I would get like a 6 month supply, I have thousands of left over pills and I’ve wanted to make art out of them for a while now but I didn’t know if it would be frowned upon, or like, illegal to show somewhere lol

This is amazing. I wonder how long it took to create

Wonderfully thought provoking
14 Feb 2018 15:32 - +29
You can tell they're hand cast because there's basically like no quality control. I eat a bowl of pills for breakfast, the weird, sterile uniformity of pills is sort of distinctive.
14 Feb 2018 15:03 - +26
That's kinda true, only by taking this amount of pills you can see jesus.
14 Feb 2018 12:26 - +25
I keep thinking of the Potato Jesus though.

"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people".-Karl Marx

Physician, take two of thyself every 24 hours.
14 Feb 2018 12:41 - +9
I thought the wall was also made of pills for a second
14 Feb 2018 12:27 - +7
Now this savior I can get behind ... *starts popping pills*
14 Feb 2018 12:45 - +6
That's an expensive piece of art
14 Feb 2018 15:55 - +6
Art can be amazing as a political statement and art can be amazing in terms of sheer beauty of execution. This manages to be both. Stunning.
14 Feb 2018 16:55 - +5
Went from "this is gonna be some awesome abstract art" to "oh, it's... a pun"
14 Feb 2018 16:32 - +5
British Museum has a similar installation, but the pills were carefully selected to represent a typical life, and each was individually knitted into a sheet almost 50 feet long. Much scarier http://www.pharmacopoeia-art.net/articles/in-sickness-and-in-health/
14 Feb 2018 18:15 - +5
Reminds me of the relapse cover lmao
14 Feb 2018 12:30 - +5

He probably could’ve used some of those during the crucifixion.

Pope Francis promoted this

Reminds me of [this guy who makes mosaics from ecstasy](https://thump.vice.com/en_us/article/aeqpzj/mosaics-of-mandy-chemical-x-on-making-art-from-ecstasy) (you need to scroll a bit to see the photos).

Was going to ask why but then I realized I blare the wii sports theme on my trumpet so I have no room to question others' art
14 Feb 2018 18:14 - +3
Is this a metaphor, saying that most people don't actually believe in a higher power and they just want something that relieves their pain and calms down their fears and insecurities?
14 Feb 2018 16:40 - +2
I genuinely read this title as a story about a "Healer" called Kevin Champeny who had hand cast 30,000 of these pills himself so he could scam people into believing he was a healer or something... I need coffee :S
14 Feb 2018 17:51 - +2
Lots of Generic Percocet (512)!!! Amazing Art
14 Feb 2018 19:55 - +2
What a fucking statement tho. Jesus. Who did this? I need to talk to you.
14 Feb 2018 18:17 - +2
I thought that was Sean Penn at first.
14 Feb 2018 19:36 - +2
The artist is Kevin Champeny https://www.kevinchampeny.com/healer

Has anyone here seen the brilliant French film "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not"? First of all, if you enjoy good films, stop reading this and go watch it. Absolutely superb roller coaster of emotions from start to finish. And now to spoil it, in the last scene the girl is getting out-processed from a mental hospital and as they're cleaning her room, they find behind the wardrobe a "painting" of the man she was stalking (leading to her committment to the hospital) made entirely out of the pills she was supposedly taking to get better. Took my breath away the first time. That was all I could think of here!
14 Feb 2018 20:46 - +2
This would be a great gift to an addict, because they need Christ.
14 Feb 2018 15:48 - +2
I guess religion is the opium of the masses
14 Feb 2018 12:54 - +2
Waiting to hear about some junkie stealing this lol
