Sudan was the last male Northern White Rhino, leaving behind only two females remaining in the subspecies. In this gif there's Sudan, the last male Northern White Rhino, and Ringo, a baby Southern White Rhino. The northern white rhino was poached into extinction and the International Anti-Poaching Foundation exists to fight back for other critically endangered species. They protect heavily poached species like elephants, rhinos, and giraffes in nature preserves all across Africa. The **International Anti-Poaching Foundation** was nominated by /u/MaiaNyx in [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NatureIsFuckingLit/comments/8aa251/four_months_ago_we_raised_10000_for_a_wildlife/). They primarily train and supply rangers that protect animals from poaching (and do so for the last two surviving female Northern White Rhinos). Look how badass a **rhino with a security detail** looks: https://i.imgur.com/jD8ZTGe.png Anti-poaching is only a part of their conservation solution. The IAPF works alongside partners who specialize in community engagement and development, research and development, wildlife rescue and biodiversity management. The population of **critically endangered** black rhino under IAPF’s has increased by **133%** since 2010. --- Some of their current projects include: Guarding the [Greater Lebombo Conservancy](https://i.imgur.com/kxd31Ww.png), the most critical piece of land for rhino conservation. It stands between the **worlds highest concentrations of rhino** in Kruger National Park and the **world’s highest concentration of rhino poachers**; Mozambique. It is key to the protection of up to 40% of the world’s remaining rhino. Training the **Akashinga**, ["The Brave Ones"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbY9MImrJtw), the all-female anti-poaching unit employing marginalized women from rural communities; educating and training them to be rangers and biodiversity managers protecting large landscapes and cutting off access for poachers into one of Africa’s largest remaining elephant populations. --- Our donations will help to train, equip and support the rangers who **risk their lives** every day to protect endangered species. Truly keeping nature lit. 🔥🔥🔥 #To Donate: https://www.crowdrise.com/natureisfuckinglit-for-iapf
Alright. Did my part. Poor pointy headed bastard. 😕
I watched Planet Earth 2 and everything seemed so fake to me, like amazing cgi, that's when I realized I'm so sheltered from real life that it's hard for me to believe that all all these creatures and plants and formations found in nature are real. It's so sad that the earth is so beautiful and yet most of us never really get the chance to go out and experience it first hand... At least I have this sub to fill me in until I get enough money to venture out and see some of this stuff in person! Thanks r/natureisfuckinglit
Proud to say I am part of that 1 million ;)

Y'all. Seriously. This brings me an incredible amount of joy. The IAPF are really incredible. Thank you all so much for taking some time to look at their work and making their job noticed. They're one of the front lines to preserving the 🔥🔥🔥 All the charities nominated do wonderful work and I'm so glad to know more about them. So many thanks to everyone in this community.
Let's hope other animals don't suffer the fate of the White Rhino
1 million! Congratulations everybody!! Lets raise all the money for anti-poaching
I wish I had extra money to donate, do you think they take applebee’s gift cards? In all seriousness, this is super cool, thank you to those of you who donated, this goes to show that humans can be fucking lit too
Donated. Great idea.
Done! Nature is fucking lit, we gotta make sure it stays that way 🔥
To the front page!
Donated! Stay lit nature!
This subreddits insistence that the fire emoji should be pronounced lit is the only thing I dislike about it
Serious question Would they not have been able to capture him before he died and extracted sperm from him to keep the species going after his passing?
This is a lovely campaign! Donated what I could afford. Here's to reaching the goal.🦏
I donated what I could! Love this subreddit
How come I'm not able to donate under $10? That seems like a bad rule
This is a conversation charity with a tangible, quantifiable impact on nature. When humans disrupt another species, it's our duty to reduce and reverse that as much as possible. This sub is amazing and reminds me every day how incredible our world is. Thank you for doing this!
Had to go give something.. poor Rhino :/
Not asking to be rude, but genuinely wondering. What does donations do if the last white rhino ready passed?
That's like $0.015 per subscriber!
🔥
Great cause and great sub. Happy to support both.
We did good guys, now let's keep it going and make a difference!
There any reason why poachers aren’t shoot on sight?
I suppose I can donate to more than pug resues this year. Donated.
Done. Always a pleasure being part of these campaigns!
I donated. Rhinos are the best.
If I could I'd join one of those anti poaching squads where their orders are to shoot on sight
I just love this sub so much for not only the awesome gifs, but for doing charity drives like this. Donated!
Donated, thank you very much for bringing awareness.
Damn Rhinos tugging at my heartstrings. Donated.
Love the cause, nobody wants these incredible animals to go extinct. To be clear tho didn’t that rhino have like three lady rhinos thrown at him and he refused to get down with any of em? My guy had some serious standards
Done! Thanks for organizing and congrats to the community on 1,000,000!
What's up with the minimum of $10? I give 2-5$ without thought to things, having a $10 minimum is weird.
I unsubbed.
Think you need to update the mod post soon!!! Well over $4,000!!!!!
Do the Northern White Rhino's just die out now or what?
Hopefully they pulled the sperm in time for future insemination
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stay smalllllllll!!! This is where I dominate my friends and family with the best Gif’s. I love this sub.
Done
The best way to help these nations sustainably manage conservation in their wilderness areas is to encourage the model that has worked so well in some countries there. The reason why poaching is so bad is that many countries are so poor they cannot afford to hire/train/equip an adequate number of game wardens to stop poachers. Legal hunting (of non-endangered species!) may at first blush seem to some as some kind of "exploitation by westerners" or whatever, but the reality is that it gives these countries the funds they need to save endangered species. A number of countries are banning hunting altogether. And they tend to struggle to stop poaching. Sometimes the solution is not intuitive.
D'awwwww
I’ll be donating as soon as I get back from taking the kids to the dentist!
#[To donate visit here. 🔥](https://www.crowdrise.com/natureisfuckinglit-for-iapf) We've reached **$11,030!** 73% of the way from 311 people in 7 hours! I've donated $100 like I do every time. Match me! 🔥🔥🔥 (Those who donate with their username on the donation can reply here to get a special "Donor" user flair!) **Top donation so far is $500 from 5yrLurker.** That's fucking lit. 🔥
I donated. What a great cause! It saddens me that some humans can't see beyond their short existence. We should preserve and protect the other inhabitants of this planet.
Dang this sub has grown in the last couple of months. I remember when it was below 100,000 subs. Keep Nature 🔥!
Beautiful
Maybe this is a stupid question but is there anyway to artificially inseminate the remaining female? Like did they collect any specimens from Sudan or other Northern White Rhinos?
I always think I’m broke until an opportunity to donate to an animal-centric charity comes up. Only then do I manage to find a few nickels and dimes I’ve squirreled away, and I’m happy to help.
🔥🔥🔥
Woohoo!
So does this mean that, once the two surviving females die, this species will be extinct?
Amazing, I love Rhinos.🦏 👏
Donated and shared, I hope you reach the goal soon.
So is the white rhino completely extinct now?
My favorite Reddit sub for this very reason. Great mods/community and cause. Happy to be part of the fundraiser for a second time!
Donated and matched!
🔥🔥
Can they just shoot and kill poachers? I mean fuck them since everyone hates them
I'm a bot, *bleep*, *bloop*. Raise money for me. A broke white male human. Plese don't.
Sounds like they're not doing a great job.
r/misleadingthumbnails
Did my part. Happy to be part of this community, let’s give some back! Thanks for doing this OP!
Does this mean that the species is extinct?
I want to fight head to head with Rhino in lasvegas mggrand anybody wanna bet?
Did researchers at least collect sperm samples from the male to impregnate the remaining female white rhinos?
#SUCCFORSUDAN
the little ones have to grow up and learn how to rhino
I know it doesn't make much sense if poachers will just re-eliminate the species, but nevertheless: does anyone know if we at least have enough genetic material to clone the species back into existence if we get the chance? If there are ever good habitats with little poaching or something like that?
Honestly asking, did they take semen samples before he died?
Shame they waited until it was too late to do anything at all. I guess that’s what you get when your government is too corrupt to care about wildlife.
My friend Mark Halliday from Australia just self funded a documentary about rhino poaching. If you are interested in this sort of thing you should definitely check it out. https://www.vestigemovie.com
Is this going to be pinned?
I've never participated in any reddit community, but I thought this charity would be a good thing to donate to, so I donated what I could :)
Fuck yeah! I didn't even realize there was a vote but I'm always trying to get people to donate to the IAPF.
I didn't find the organization on charitynavigator, do you know the percentage of the donation that actually gets put into projects? Money wasted on administrative expenses is always my biggest concern with smaller charities...
Congrat!!
Why didn't they breed them in captivity to repopulate them?
Guys, i was watching a Brazilian news channel, and apparently theres a male white rhyno in a zoo over there, though the news could be wrong, im completely sure they said it was a male white rhyno
