TIL that Queen Elizabeth the II of the United Kingdom, now aged 91, is a big fan of Nintendo's game console Wii. After watching her grandson play it during Christmas one year, she asked if she could have a go. Apparently she was a "natural" at Wii Bowling, and she became quite fond of the console

> What's up folks, it's your girl Lizzy, aka. QE2Skilled and today we're taking a first look at the new operator in R6. Remember to like and subscribe for more royal headshots in your inbox. If she starts doing Twitch livestreams I might turn into a monarchist.

Of course, that's why they call it "The Royal Wii".

Thank god you clarified, because Queen Elizabeth I hated Nintendo and I was about to call you out on that.

My dad is a physical therapist who works mainly with elderly patients. Many of them LOVE Wii bowling. They have a big TV in the therapy room and let the patients play Wii bowling or Wii tennis to get them moving around... it's pretty funny.

I feel like if you're playing Wii with the Queen of England...you let her win

*She is said to have been "addicted" to playing with a Nintendo Wii, which was bought by Kate Middleton for Prince William. She set up her e-mail account and owns both a mobile phone and an iPod.* Now I imagine her sitting in Buckingham Palace politely taunting William while she dominates in Super Smash Bros. Can't wait to watch it in "The Crown".

I think what a lot of people get wrong about the monarchy is that the biggest challenge facing its continuity right now isn't that its losing popularity, it's that nobody wants to be the monarch. It's not exactly all sunshine and rainbows. It's a ceremonial position, and once you become the monarch, your life is, to all intents and purposes, over. You're not some all powerful ruler, you are in for a lifetime of non stop social and political engagements, you can never go out in public again without a massive security detail and weeks of planning, and you're doing that job until you die. Every detail of your life is all over the media all the time, and you are duty bound to be the face of multiple countries and the voice of reassurance and reason at all times, all the while having no political power. Elizabeth never expected nor wanted to be Queen, and her grandkids certainly aren't interested in being Kings. It's generally a miserable job, and there is no real way out of it. As soon as you're crowned, your life is done.

I would love to see the Queen talk shit to her family while playing Wii Bowling. Or to hear her family groan when she asks if they would like to get a quick game in.

"Her grandson" makes it sound like it was a 9 year old boy - it's Prince William, he's 35 and married...

My grandfather spent the last three years of his life playing Goldeneye on my N64. I used to carry it to their house when we visited on sundays. He had lung problems so he couldn’t go outside when it was pollen season. I left it there by accident, and when I returned the next Sunday, he had been playing all week. I Left it there so he’d have something to do during the week. Wasn’t long before he was a pro. My cousin and I would play him in multiplayer mode, and he would kick both our asses every time. The queen needs to step her game up and start playing Call of Duty or something.

I'm also a big fan of the Wii. A gigantic VC library, it can play GameCube games, we can watch HULU and Netflix on it, not to mention a pretty strong lineup of Wii titles. It's a great little console.

HRH's favorite game is "Wii Corgis".

Alright, I'm sold. Bring back the monarchy.

The Queen is rocking a pretty soft buzz all day, so it makes sense that she's into video games.
