I took a picture of Salesforce Tower every work day for a year and a half while it was being constructed

That one window not being filled until the end is really distracting.
17 Apr 2018 05:14 - +175
Did it ever rain?

This is really quite cool. So ... I wonder if the building, planners, architects or construction company might be interested in paying you for a copy ...? :) Edited to add: I've never seen one of these before, and really enjoyed it. Thanks to my fellow redditors, TIL that these timelapses are more common than I'd known. Just want to tell you guys how much I appreciate you letting me know, as I'll now search out more of 'em to enjoy. Fun fact - I'm currently having a house built, and not one of the contractors we interviewed prior to choosing showed us anything like this. A simple house probably doesn't usually warrant a timelapse, but gosh it's so cool that I'm surprised every builder doesn't do it.

Its crazy that buildings and structures used to take decades or hundreds of years to build, and now it can be done in a year and a half or so.

I came back to SF after a while and went "huh, they got a new cucumber looking building, neat."
17 Apr 2018 07:26 - +42
Funny, I use Salesforce every day, I didn't know the company was so big. I fucking hate the program, but I think it's mostly due to my company royally fucking up its implementation

Notice the bonus build in the background too? Nice.
17 Apr 2018 05:40 - +12
It reminds me to Simcity / Skykines So gratifying :D
17 Apr 2018 06:47 - +11
ITT: OP sucks.
17 Apr 2018 06:45 - +4
ITT everyone hates OP but loves the content
17 Apr 2018 07:16 - +3
Hey, that's what I do. I always see people in suits on the streets below checking us out heh. It's flattering, like a man on trapeze performing for his audience.
17 Apr 2018 05:37 - +3
Hey, nice work! What camera and software did you use?
17 Apr 2018 08:06 - +2
Wow, that’s quite an erection.
17 Apr 2018 06:50 - +2
I’ve been in there and they have this elevator system where each person that wants to go up puts in their floor number and it gives them a letter and number and you have to go to the corresponding elevator that matches yours. You can’t input in your floor when you get in, it just knows to stop at the floor you’re going to from your input. Took me a good 5 minutes to figure it out while everybody was streaming passed me and almost got on the wrong elevator.
17 Apr 2018 05:51 - +2
Where is this? I didn’t see any rainy days.
17 Apr 2018 07:11 - +2
At first, I thought you were talking about the Indianapolis Salesforce Tower and I was both impressed and confused before I saw it was a cross post from San Francisco’s.
17 Apr 2018 08:38 - +2
I just took a picture of the front of the building on Friday! https://imgur.com/gallery/oZzHK
17 Apr 2018 07:37 - +2
Did salesforce just sponsor the building or did they really build a HQ that big?
17 Apr 2018 07:53 - +2
Complete with bonus building being built in the background!
17 Apr 2018 05:27 - +2
Hey- Good going. This is really cool.
17 Apr 2018 08:21 - +2
The builder does have a time lapse camera. Check out https://app.oxblue.com/open/clarkconstruction/salesforcetower
17 Apr 2018 07:51 - +2
Salesforce has a tower? *Shudder*
17 Apr 2018 06:38 - +2
Started from the bottom, now we heeere
17 Apr 2018 07:40 - +2
I have a similar photo set but I don't know how to get the photos to line up like yours... what did you use to make the gif?
17 Apr 2018 07:26 - +2
/u/icorrectotherpeople is a karmawhore.
17 Apr 2018 07:24 - +1
They finished that faster than the road work at home.
17 Apr 2018 07:47 - +1
Wow interesting. Why did they build from the bottom up instead of top down?
17 Apr 2018 08:18 - +1
Pretty amazing that with a little water and sunlight, buildings can grow like that.
17 Apr 2018 07:38 - +1
This was a span of a year and a half. How the hell do the streets near me take the same time for a quarter mile strip...
17 Apr 2018 08:21 - +1
So these are the guys that own Heroku, right?
17 Apr 2018 08:09 - +1
So here we go, like a Salesforce into the sky.
17 Apr 2018 08:26 - +1
I just saw this building on a trip to SF last week. It looks good at night, but I preferred he view at the strip club I was going back to the house from.
17 Apr 2018 07:28 - +1
The contractor will have their own time-lapse as well. Almost all large projects like that have a live camera on the project 24-7.
17 Apr 2018 08:28 - +1
Every day you lose more sky. I feel bad for you
17 Apr 2018 07:45 - +1
Very cool that you were able to take the pics every single day without moving. Nothing to distract from the construction
17 Apr 2018 08:35 - +1
Now you know why they call it erecting a building.
17 Apr 2018 07:51 - +1
shoutouts to that little building growing up in the background, too.
17 Apr 2018 08:36 - +1
Now that was really cool 👌
17 Apr 2018 07:23 - +1
How tf is this educational
17 Apr 2018 08:38 - +1
In Houston I used to drive home an extra 10 mins out of my way every day to drive by a building downtown that was being build. This is really cool
17 Apr 2018 07:27 - +1
It’s fucking amazing how fast we can build shit nowadays
17 Apr 2018 08:43 - +1
I see a lot of Ctrl C and Ctrl v goin on here
17 Apr 2018 07:35 - +1
No you're not.
17 Apr 2018 08:53 - +1
I'll miss the portion of that sky 😢
17 Apr 2018 07:43 - +1
Fascinating how it slowly starts looking phallic.
17 Apr 2018 08:06 - +1
That scaffolding elevator down the side is neat. You never really think about the infrastructure necessary to build a skyscraper.
17 Apr 2018 07:46 - +1
If only my penis would erect as fast as this ...😔
17 Apr 2018 07:58 - +1
Like playing SimCity 4!
17 Apr 2018 07:48 - +1
Now I know how to build my Lego structures
17 Apr 2018 07:20 - +1
So many sunny days.
17 Apr 2018 07:52 - +1
A year and a half of sunny days
17 Apr 2018 05:48 - +1
/r/woahdude /r/interestingasfuck
17 Apr 2018 07:59 - +1
Oh, so *that's* what it is. I recently traveled into San Francisco and saw it sticking out very... singularly. I thought, "huh, that's new" but didn't look much into it.
17 Apr 2018 06:07 - +1
This comes to mind. https://www.wsj.com/articles/when-to-sell-look-at-the-hq-1491768486
17 Apr 2018 08:09 - +1
They can build a tower but they can't fix the auto date on the email templates
17 Apr 2018 06:13 - +1
That's some really nice work, OP. What did you use to capture this?
17 Apr 2018 08:11 - +1
You should take this in to your next promotion review. If I was your boss and you showed me this I would be very impressed with your dedication and discipline. If what you said is true the you e taken more picks in that year in a half than I showered.
17 Apr 2018 06:22 - +1
As it wasn't overcast, grey and rainy for at least 480 of the 500 days I feel confident in saying that you did not take these photographs in the UK.
17 Apr 2018 08:21 - +1
This was strangly beautiful.
17 Apr 2018 06:34 - +1
Watching the erection of that building has been quite the sight!
17 Apr 2018 08:22 - +1
They can build a structure that fast but it takes my customers 6+ hours to get password reset emails.
17 Apr 2018 06:40 - +1
Was just there and that building is impressive. Towers over everything around it.
17 Apr 2018 08:27 - +1
I hate that stupid building. It's a giant dong. That's all these tall buildings represent, who's the white dude with the biggest concrete dick.
17 Apr 2018 06:53 - +1
That one window stayed open for so long
17 Apr 2018 08:31 - +1
Thx.
17 Apr 2018 06:57 - +1
What software did you use to make this?
17 Apr 2018 08:36 - +1
Salesforce is such a hideous product, they just beat everyone else to market
17 Apr 2018 07:03 - +1
So does sales force actually get used? I’m a sales guy am I missing something? How do they have enough dough to build a building.
17 Apr 2018 08:37 - +1
Congrats on keeping your job for that long.
17 Apr 2018 07:05 - +1
What are those plastic covers on side used for? Block dust?
17 Apr 2018 08:41 - +1
One of the best spot to see it built was from the Blackrock/iShares building. I was in one of their conf room and saw a few of the first floors being constructed.
17 Apr 2018 07:06 - +1
Neat. I hope the architect and everyone involved with making this building exist gets to see this.
17 Apr 2018 08:46 - +1
Wow I wonder if I happened to get in any of these
17 Apr 2018 07:06 - +1
How do they get the cranes down?
17 Apr 2018 08:54 - +1
Lol. OP was probably caught in traffic on first street for a year and a half. I hate that on-ramp.
17 Apr 2018 07:07 - +1
That angle doesn't do it justice. Shit is huge
