Walked past this sign today, kinda weird to see it on reddit

not as interesting once you realize theres an antenna on top that receives data for which light to light up, and that the sign doesn't actually determine UV index from the sun shining on it

This blew up and made it to front page, Hi mum πŸ‘‹ I feel like while you are all looking at this I should point out that the charity on this sign, [Cancer Council does some good work in Australia so please contribute if you feel compelled to do so](https://secure.fundraising.cancer.org.au/site/Donation2?1920.donation=form1&df_id=1920&set.DonationLevel=2461#donationamount)... because fuck Cancer!

I live in Queensland, Australia, where this sign is. Seeing that this sign displays the current UV index as only "High", means that the photo must have been taken at night. TLDR; The Queensland sun is a cunt... all year round.

It really bothers me that the options can’t be answers to the original question.

I wish the sun got progressively angrier the more harmful it was rated.

The thing with UV Index is that it changes on an hour by hour basis by multiple points, so phrasing it "How harmful is the sun today" is misleading, when, within an hour or two, it could be at the 'Extreme' mark.
